01 The Hardware

Four cages, one bolt pattern, no plastic.

Everything Widefoot makes starts as raw stock and leaves as a finished part. No injection moulding, no overseas contract factory — just tube, rod and sheet worked into shape in Colorado.

03 The Mount

Three bolts. Infinite positions.

The slot pattern is the patented part. Instead of fixed holes, the CargoMount rides on slots — so it slides to clear a bottle, a bag or a fork blade instead of forcing you to live with where the frame's bosses happen to be.

05 How It's Made

Cut, bent, brazed, TIG welded.

01

Cut

Raw stainless rod and 5052 aluminium sheet come in as stock and get cut to length in-house.

02

Bent

Formed on fixtures Widefoot designed and built themselves in 2022 — the reason the current cages are repeatable.

03

Brazed

Joints brazed by hand. The first LiterCages in 2015 were MIG welded and had their weld spatter picked off one at a time.

04

TIG welded

Finished and welded at the Fort Collins workshop, then inspected before it goes in a box.

06 Our Story

"Why isn't there a Nalgene-sized bottle cage?"

Two friends, Hunter and Marc, asked that question four months into their first jobs out of school. Ten years later the answer is a workshop in Fort Collins that the employees own.

  1. 2014

    The question

Hunter and Marc start 3D modelling the LiterCage. The name blends "widemouth" — for the litre Nalgene — with Bigfoot, and the yeti in the logo comes from the Yeti Fabrications tag they used on teenage builds.

  2. 2015

    First LiterCage

An oversized stainless cage, MIG welded from solid steel rod in a spare storage room with no running water. Every unit hand-finished.

  3. 2019

    CargoMount

The low-profile aluminium cargo cage arrives. Through all of this the company is still a side project run on evenings and weekends.

  4. 2020

    Full time

Hunter goes full time mid-year. In December, Zachary becomes the first full-time hire.

  5. 2021

    Fort Collins

The original shop is sold to a neighbouring hospital, and Widefoot moves to the Colorado town that had stuck with them since a college backpacking trip.

  6. 2022

    Employee-owned

Custom in-house manufacturing fixtures come online and the LiterCage is updated. Jace joins as a co-owner and the company becomes employee-owned.
